Google has launched a new app named Health Connect on the Play Store. It’s a one-stop app for managing all your health and fitness apps. The app is designed to simplify the connection between your health, wellness, and fitness apps and allow users to manage their privacy settings in one place. This one app is created to help centralize the management of all your health apps. Google partnered with Samsung to develop the app and announced that it would be available in beta on the Google Play Store.

According to Google, Health Connect allows you to share fitness and health data across all your Android devices. Apps that are integrated with the platform can also share data, allowing you to get credit for workouts in one app from another app.

In addition to sharing health data, the Health Connect app has a central page for all your privacy and fitness settings. This page syncs all compatible apps, so you can change your data limit or monitoring settings in one place without the need to visit each app individually. The feature also reportedly includes granular controls so users can see which applications are consuming data at any given time.

Integrate with Health Connect

More than 10 health and fitness apps are starting to integrate with this Google health tracker app including MyFitnessPal, Oura, Fitbit Peloton, Flo, Samsung Health, Withings, WW, Lifesum, and Dexcom. According to reports, this is only the first wave of apps, so maybe we’ll be seeing more useful health apps supporting Health Connect.

Previously, it was more difficult for developers to share data between different apps, they had to create multiple APIs and it was expensive and hard work. With Health Connect, developers don’t need to create all new integrations. Google says that building integrations with apps is now easier than you think.

Health Connect provides a standard data structure that supports 40 plus data types in 6 categories. The app covers a wide range of use cases, from exercise to sleep monitoring, etc. You can get a richer experience from your favorite health & fitness apps. Whether you’re tracking activity, nutrition, sleep, or milestones, this app syncs data from your apps and can help you get a complete picture of your fitness and health and gives you an understanding of how your lifestyle affects it.

Central Dashboard

The main dashboard shows who and what data you’re app is sharing with the Google health app. You can stop access to unwanted data and delete it. You can also prioritize one app’s data over another app’s data. This application is developed by Google, so you know it’s safe and provides an easy way to store and connect data from health apps without compromising your privacy.

Health Connect aligns with Google’s commitment to helping billions of people stay healthy through its platforms, technologies, and apps. It is available as a beta download on the Google Play Store. There’s no word on a public release, but we can expect a public release soon as the beta version is now available on the Play Store.
